Digitizing COVID-19 Vaccination
AFENET in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Expanded Programme for Immunization (EPI), Health Information Systems Program, South Africa (HISP SA), U.S. CDC supported the development of the electronic COVID-19 vaccine registry using DHIS2. The electronic COVID-19 vaccination programme registers and tracks COVID-19 vaccine beneficiaries to avoid slippages, duplications, and defaulting on the second dose of the vaccine. The system was customized for planning, developing line lists for the different priority groups for COVID-19 vaccination, including all health workers and other targeted populations, implementation, monitoring, defaulter tracing, sending reminders, and evaluating COVID-19 vaccination.
The COVID-19 Vaccine was further expanded to cover routine vaccination registry, starting with the introduction of malaria vaccine in March 2024.
